Earlier Songs (Not Released) These songs are on albums, but not distributed to the public. I consider that a public service. You're welcome. That's because most of these songs are actually somewhat embarassing to me by today's standards because the technology for recording a whole song with only one person was in it's infancy in the 1980's when these were recorded. Cheap drum machines, only 8 tracks to use, etc. Also some of the lyrics and musical ideas seem pretty dated to me now. But they are there. They exist. Somehow I can't bring myself to destroy them completely. Some have some decent ideas inside, but some are just TOO embarassing and so I did not build links to all of them here although they do exist on the website server. Though I have links to most of them. This is to invite the ridicule of the world I guess - it keeps me pretty humble. 42. Yellow Moon - An instrumental to paint a picture of a yellow moon hanging over the water from an exotic island. Palm trees hanging in silouette. A little breeze drifts gently by. Capture that moment to be looked back on later in life when these moments are more rare. 41. That Professional Touch - This is a jazzy piece about a man who starts to realize that hi girlfriend is a hooker, because she has that 'professional' touch when making love. 40. No Excuses - This was written about an old boss of mine from 1986. His name was Rick Crooker. He was part of the best rowing team in the world. He had a belief in excellence. 39. The Plains of Nasca - Some of the most interesting evidence of extraterestrial visits here on Earth on on the Plains of Nasca, south of Lima, Peru. This is about those aliens that made the signs there and what they might think of us 38. Grace Under Pressure -It's not about the hardships in our life. It's about how we handle the hardships that counts. This is about that sense of Grace under pressure that should all aspire to have. 37. The Art of the Moment - This is a deep one. I had an experience once. It takes a while to explain. The cover on reality slipped a bit for me one day and I had a peek behind the scenes. 36. You Don't Cheat Your Friends - The title is self explanatory. We have to live our lives with integrity, honesty, and truth. 35. Never A Raving Beauty- About a woman who grew overweight and as she did, she watched as her friends started to drop off and how they no longer considered her desirable as a friend. The seeping alienation of the overweight in our society. 34. Giant's Lullaby (Stone and Sea) - This one was inspired by the books called "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant The Unbeleiver" In that story are giants who sail stone ships across the sea looking for their lost brothers. 33. You Can Always Come To Me - Written for my daughter just after she was born. A message from a father to his baby girl. I wrote and recorded this and then put the guitars away for the next decade after that. 32. You Should Know By Now - Written to my wife when we were still dating. 31. Do It Now - About procrastinating. Get it done now - don't put it off 30. Building Castles - A song about working for yourself instead of working for someone else. 29. I'll Say Nothing - A song about jealousy and trust. 28. Just Best friends - About a friend who was moving away out of my life. You don't know how much you'll miss someone till they're gone. 27. I Used To Know You - People change. Meeting a person after many years on separate paths 26. Little Girl In My Arms - The private moments of revelation of a person 25. Living In The Past - So many people stick to old ways of doing something because they are afraid of change. 24. Quiet Night, Soft Breeze - an instrumental moment on a beach. Soft breeze drifting by . Palm trees 23. Echoes - Instrumental 22. These Are The Memories - Make the most of the days and moments you are living right now, because these will be the memories you will look back on later 21. To Know You Better - A flirtation between two people who sense a bond and potential link 20. Twilight - Instrumental 19. Two of a Kind - About my best friend and I. Everything that happens to one seems to be oddly mirrored to some degree in the other. So many similarities 18. Without You - A man trying to learn to live without his love. She has died and he keeps seeing her ghost 17. Holiday - A nice holiday away from life and work. Don't want to go back 16. Down a Fast River - Instrumental, acoustic 15. Breathless - Instrumental 14. Back On The Line - Advice to my first wife to leave and get her life back on track again. 13. Childhoods's End - A lament for simpler, happier days of childhood. 12. Dance In Slow Motion - A dance tune. What other insight IS there in a dance tune! LOL 11. Change My Life - Working all through my 20's and got to the point of wanting to quit the daily grind and go be a musician again. (Hard to make a living doing THAT fulltime these days) 10. Hey Kid - That awkward age of 18. No longer a child, not yet an adult. Seems the disadvantages of both pile up on us at that age. 9. I Find It Amazing - This is about the strange dichotomy of the higher achieveents of mankind and yet at the same time the lower impulses, greed, lust for power and control over others, etc. Oddly enough for me - this is primarily a keyboard-based song. The main instrument is an organ. Since I don't really PLAY keyboards per se - I find THAT amazing, that I would have risked it. I'd put a link in here, but I don't want to subject anyone to this one unless someone specifically asks me for it, and convinces me they wont hold it against me! 8. Living On The Edge of Poverty - Overspending - and addicted to shopping 7. On and On Forever - Wrote this for a friends wedding. I was there when they met. She COULD have chosen ME instead!! LOL. Well, as it turned out - it WASN"T to go on and on forever. They were divorced in 2003. 6. Progressive Boogie - A boogie-woogie style song 5. Step Aside - a dance tune 4. There's Nothing Worth Dying For - An anti-war tune. I realized recently that much of my attitude about war and politics, the senselessness and ambivalence toward it all probably comes fro my watching Dr. Zhivago when I was 8 years old back when it came out in 1965 3. White Line Boogie - A car-driving song. Traditional Rock and Roll. Really cheesy drum track made me decide not to put in the link. 2. A Hero In Your Dreams - About the roles we play and that our subconscious creates for us in our dreams at night. It is a mechanism for escaping our dull, uninteresting lives for a while each day. Interestingly - in our current life we are paying the price for our lack of effort, our lack of energy, vision, or courage. Most of us are not living up to our potential because of these things. This is a chance to see how we could be different in a world where we made different decisions and had more courage for instance. For most people, their fears limit them in ways they can barely imagine. 1. A Quick Instrumental - Just exactly what the title implies.
